KAKE proudly partnering with Parks Foundation for Red, White and Boom 2019

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The 5th annual Red White and Boom preparations are underway. Fireworks, food trucks, a live band and a beer garden in downtown Wichita are all in the works, but there's a new focus this year that KAKE News is proud to partner up for.

"We want to make it more about the veterans and tying the veteran aspect into it. We've tried to do that the last couple years but we know you guys have the market cornered in that aspect," says Josh Howell, Parks Foundation board member.

This Fourth of July event is completely free, but all donations go to help the Wichita Parks Foundation.

"Fundraising is a big part of what we do. We try to raise money for the Wichita parks system. We do that through events, red white and boom being our biggest event," says Howell.

With a bigger turnout every year comes all the more preparation, but board member Josh Howell says it's worth it to see memories made.

"It really is a family event so seeing all the families out there having fun, that's the most rewarding part for me," says Howell.
