KSU, TCU to meet in Big 12 tournament

No. 8 seed TCU (20-12, 8-11) vs. No. 1 seed Kansas State (24-7, 14-4)

   Big 12 Conference Tourney Quarterfinals, Sprint Center, Kansas City, Missouri; Thursday, 12:30 p.m. CDT

   BOTTOM LINE: TCU and Kansas State are set to do battle in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament. Kansas State swept the two-game regular season series. The teams last faced each other on March 4, when the Wildcats shot 46.9 percent from the field while limiting TCU to just 41.7 percent en route to a 64-52 victory.

   SUPER SENIORS: Kansas State has relied heavily on its seniors this year. Barry Brown Jr., Dean Wade, Kamau Stokes and Makol Mawien have collectively accounted for 65 percent of the team's scoring this year and 70 percent of all Wildcats points over the last five games.

   DOMINANT DESMOND: Desmond Bane has connected on 40.9 percent of the 137 3-pointers he's attempted and has made 10 of 17 over his last three games. He's also converted 89.4 percent of his free throws this season.

   UNBEATEN WHEN: TCU is a perfect 9-0 when it holds an opponent to 62 points or fewer. The Horned Frogs are 11-12 when opponents score more than 62.

   ASSIST-TO-FG RATIO: The Horned Frogs have recently used assists to create baskets more often than the Wildcats. Kansas State has an assist on 42 of 70 field goals (60 percent) across its past three outings while TCU has assists on 46 of 74 field goals (62.2 percent) during its past three games.

   STOUT STATE: Kansas State has held opposing teams to 59.1 points per game this year, the fourth-lowest figure among all Division I teams.
