Man killed, 2 hurt in Reno County crash

RENO COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a man was killed and two teenagers were hurt when their car collided with a semi in Reno County. 

Emergency crews were called at around 4:15 p.m. to the scene on Highway 50 near Sylvia. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a northbound Chevy Impala stopped at a stop sign and then pulled out into the highway where it was struck. 

A passenger in the Impala, 20-year-old Dwayne Depperschmidt of Sylvia, died at the scene. The 19-year-old driver, Malyssa Depperschmidt, and another passenger, 18-year-old Cody George, were hospitalized. 

The 43-year-old man driving the semi was not hurt. 

All involved were wearing seat belts.
