WELLINGTON, Kan. (KAKE) -

A former Wellington High School band instructor has been charged with child sex crimes.   Charges against Ben Olson were filed late last week in Sumner County.

Olson, 30, is charged with four counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of unlawful sexual relations as a teacher with a student.

Olson was placed on leave in November when the investigation began.  According to the complaint, Olson is accused of receiving sexually explicit photos and videos from a 17-year-old girl.  He's also accused of sending text messages of a sexual nature to the student, massaging her in a sexual manner and kissing her.

Olson had been at Wellington High School since 2015.  His bond is $50,000.
