Woman killed in fiery wrong-way crash on K-254 in Kechi

KECHI, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 24-year-old woman was killed when her car crashed into a bridge rail and caught fire in Kechi.

The accident happened at around 1:45 a.m. Friday at K-254 and Oliver. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Brooke Spainhower was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of K-254 when she failed to negotiate a curve. Her car hit a bridge rail structure and caught on fire. 

Spainhower, of Wichita, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident shutting down the highway for several hours.

The patrol continues investigating the crash.
