Man in stolen car arrested after police chase in south Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have arrested a 25-year-old man following a pursuit on the city's south side.

The department said on Facebook that Garth Gray was booked early Thursday morning for criminal possession of a firearm, flee and elude, an aggravated weapons violation, possession of stolen property, traffic charges and a parole violation.

Officers spotted and tried to stop a stolen Volvo in the 800 block of East Harry at around 12:30 a.m. The post says the driver, Gray, fled from officers before stopping at Pawnee and Mosley. Gray and a 26-year-old woman were taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

A handgun and drug paraphernalia were found in the Volvo, which officers returned to its owner.

The woman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kansas Department of Corrections records list Gray as a parole absconder as of February 1. He has prior convictions of drug possession, theft and obstruction in Cowley County.
