WSU athletics director Darron Boatright gets 3-year extensionPosted: Updated:
Wichita State University athletics director Darron Boatright received a contract extension on Thursday, the school announced it was renewed through June 2022.
"Darron has done an excellent job since taking over the department in April 2015. He was instrumental in WSU’s move into the American Athletic Conference, the apparel deal with Under Armour and fundraising support for improving campus facilities," said WSU President Richard Muma in a release. "Most importantly to President Bardo and me, our students have thrived athletically, and academically, under Darron’s leadership.”
Boatright took over as the AD at WSU in 2015 and since then he's helped the university move from the Missouri Valley to the American Athletic Conference, and sign an apparel deal with Under Armour.
“I’m honored that the University believes in what we are accomplishing in the athletic department and how we are developing our student-athletes,” said Boatright. “I’m looking forward to continue working closely with our coaches and staff while improving the experience of our student-athletes, both at the university and in the community.”
In the past four years WSU has won 22 conference championships and has appeared in 17 NCAA Tournaments.
