Wichita police arrest suspect in deadly shooting in Genesis parking lot

Wichita police have arrested a 25-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of a man in a Genesis Health Club parking lot. 

Jail records show Tanner Mora was booked late Tuesday night for first-degree murder and warrants. Police have said that 22-year-old Lorenzo Wade was shot an killed the evening of February 6 in the parking lot of the Genesis near 13th and West streets. 

Capt. Brent Allred said the suspect was arrested in the 900 block of 29th Street South. He and victim were acquaintances.

The shooting remains under investigation.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Mora has prior convictions of burglary and theft in Ellis and Cowley counties. Mora's Facebook page says he lives in Arkansas City.

Police have identified a 22-year-old man shot and killed in northwest Wichita.

Officers were called at around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday to a shooting in the parking lot of Genesis Health Club near 13th and West Street. Officer Paul Cruz said the person who called 911 had found 22-year-old Lorenzo Wade lying on the ground and rendered aid until EMS arrived. 

Wade was pronounced dead at the scene. 

No arrests have made. Police are working to determine exactly where the shooting happened. They hope that surveillance video from nearby businesses will help them find a suspect.

Genesis Health Clubs released this statement:

We were saddened to hear about the incident that happened in the area near our club on 13th street Wednesday night. Though he was not a member and we did not know him, our hearts go out to his family and we regret this senseless loss of life. We offer our thanks to the bystanders, first responders, and brave officers working hard to solve this case.
