Man arrested for attempted murder in southeast Wichita shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have arrested a suspect in the shooting of a 21-year-old man in southeast Wichita last week. 

Officer Charley Davidson said 25-year-old Jeffery Porter was apprehended in Riley County on Monday. He faces one count of attempted first-degree murder. 

Officers responded at around 1 a.m. Wednesday to a call for EMS in the 2400 block of South Glendale, near Pawnee and Oliver. Davidson said they arrived to find a 21-year-old man who had gunshot wounds to his upper body. 

The victim suffered serious injuries and remained hospitalized on Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing.
