SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Trooper Ben Gardner is urging drivers to use caution when driving in winter weather conditions.

He responded to the crash on I-70 on Tuesday that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Ashlen Leigh Lemon of Hays.

Lemon, who was using her seat belt, was driving when her car lost control due to icy road conditions and struck the guardrail.

"I'm on scene at the significant wreck...and it's devastating," he said in a video posted on Twitter, after wiping away tears on his face.

He asked drivers to think twice before driving in icy conditions.

"It's hard sometimes to navigate out of it when you're already in it. It's better to make the decisions in advance about driving on the road or not," said Gardner.

The video has been shared nearly a thousand times on Twitter and over 3,000 times on Facebook.

This is not the first time one of his videos has been widely shared.

In a video posted last year, Gardner encouraged drivers to accelerate on entrance ramps. That video has also been shared nearly a thousand times.
