Wichita Public Works prepares for bad road conditions

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

With ice and snow in the forecast, Wichita Public Works is ready to treat the roads.

Crews are scheduled to begin treatment around 8 p.m. Friday. Deputy Director of Public Works and Utilities Joseph Pajor says that the crews were not able to treat the roads earlier Friday due to heavy rainfall.

"We weren't able to pretreat because of all the rain would have washed it off and it wouldn't have been a benefit."

Even with the roads being treated, Pajor says drivers need to take all safety precautions.

"It's been a little while since we've had bad conditions and bad streets, and people need to understand that even with our treatment going on, they need to slow down, increase distances, and pay attention," said Pajor.
