LACLEDE COUNTY, Mo. (KAKE) -

A 6-year-old Missouri boy missing for five months has been found in a boarded-up attic. His mother and her boyfriend are now behind bars.

WDAF reports Braedence Jones had been missing since August 3. His father reported him missing when he didn't return home from visiting his mother, 30-year-old Aubrey Ferguson.

U.S. Marshals acted on a tip when they executed a search warrant at a home in Laclede County, northeast of Springfield, on Tuesday. They found Braedence in an attic crawl space that had been nailed shut and concealed.

The Camden County Sheriff's Office said Ferguson was in the crawl space with Braedence when he was found. She and her boyfriend, 41-year-old Woodrow Ziegler, were arrested.

Ferguson was being held on one count of child abduction. Additional charges were being sought.

Braedence has since been reunited with his father, who had court-ordered custody of the boy.
