LENEXA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police in the Kansas City area want to know who tied a puppy to a pole and abandoned him.

Lenexa police say the puppy was found Tuesday on a pole in the 9400 block of Ridgeview Road. He was malnourished, suffered from hypothermia and had other injuries, police said in a Facebook post

Officers took the puppy to a local animal hospital for treatment.

Now they want to know who did it and why. Anyone with information is asked to call Lenexa police at (913) 477-7385.

"We greatly appreciate the concern, however we ask that folks don't call to inquire about adopting the dog," the department's Facebook post says. "We will release that information if it becomes available."
