OTTAWA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 63-year-old semi driver was killed when he crashed into an overturned box truck in eastern Kansas.

The accident happened at around 5:10 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 35 in south Ottawa. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the box truck was lying on its side and the driver had climbed onto the top of the cab when the southbound semi rear-ended it.

The semi went into a grass median, hit a guardrail and jackknifed. The driver, Sukhdarshan Sidhu of Grand Island, New York, died at the scene.

The 30-year-old Georgia man who was driving the box truck was ejected and hospitalized for a possible injury.
