Suspects ram police vehicle during chase in southwest Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have arrested two suspects who reportedly rammed a police vehicle in an attempt to escape during a chase.

At around 12:00 a.m. Friday, officers tried to stop a vehicle near Savanah and Seneca for traffic violations.

The driver, 39-year-old Darrel Deere and his passenger, 19-year-old Jamie Daily, refused to stop and sped away.

Deere led police on a chase that ended near Glenn and West Irving Street where he tried to escape by putting his vehicle in reverse and ramming the pursuing officer's vehicle.

Shortly after, Deere wrecked into a fence and fled on foot, leaving Daily in the vehicle.

Daily was taken into custody at the vehicle and Deere was arrested after a short chase on foot. No officers reported any injuries.
