Railroad employee dies in train accident in northwest Kansas

OAKLEY, Kan. (KAKE) -

A Union Pacific Railroad employee has been killed in an accident at a crossing in northwest Kansas.

Railroad officials said the incident happened at around 9 p.m. Sunday near Highway 83 and East Front Street in Oakley. An employee onboard the train died. That person has not been identified. 

Details surrounding the incident were not released. 

Union Pacific said Monday afternoon that the incident is under investigation and crews were working to get the rail reopened.
