ANDOVER, Kan. (KAKE) -

UPDATE:

Andover police released a statement on social media saying they have identified the victim of a fatal crash involving a trash truck.

25-year-old Henry Too Cheseto has been identified as the driver who was killed in the 1200 block of West Harry Wednesday morning. Cheseto's car had drifted across the center of the road and struck an oncoming trash truck.

Cheseto was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was an international student at Butler Community College who was from Kenya. He was a former student athlete at the University of Alaska Anchorage.

"A very talented and bright young man," said Michael Friess, head coach for track and field.  "He was somewhat reserved. Certainly didn't brag about himself even though he achieved an awful lot. Just a very humble young man."

Friends held a vigil on Thursday near the crash site and remember fond memories of him.

"Energetic about trying to put that energy into athletics. He was humble. He would hug you for nothing. He loved friends. He got a lot of friends," said Simion Melly, friend.

Fundraisers are being organized to help with sending Cheseto back to his home in northern Kenya. To donate, click here
