WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Sedgwick County is hoping teens can help it fill positions in the jail.

People eighteen years old are now eligible to apply for detention deputy positions in Sedgwick County.  The previous minimum age was 21.  In June, KAKE News reported the sheriffs department needed to fill more than 60 positions.

Applicants must pass a written test, physical test, psychological test, drug test, polygraph and background check.

Detention deputies start at $15.97 per hour.
