HOLTON, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 16-year-old boy was killed when his car crashed into a tractor-trailer on a northeast Kansas highway.

The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Route 75 near Holton. The Kansas Highway Patrol say Garrett Klahr failed to stop at a stop sign at 286th Road and Route 75 and drove in front of a westbound semi. The rig then struck the passenger side of his Toyota Carolla.

The car spun out and rolled into its side in a ditch. Klahr, of Wetmore, was pronounced dead at a Topeka hospital.
