WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two people who died after crashing into a semi truck near Goddard.

Lt. Tim Myers on Friday identified them as 80-year-old Darold Hale and 83-year-old Colleen Hale, both of Goddard.

Deputies were called at around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday to an accident at the intersection of 183rd Street West and MacArthur Road. Officials say Hale's vehicle was heading south on 183rd. He failed to stop at the stop sign and drove into the passenger side of a semi truck that was heading west on MacArthur.

Both vehicles were engulfed inflames.

The driver of the semi was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Hale and Hall were in the other vehicle and died at the scene.

A family that lives at the intersection says it took crews almost 14 hours to clear the scene. They had to bring in special equipment to unload dozens of pallets of bread from the semi before towing it away.

Officials at the scene said they had already worked multiple accidents on MacArthur earlier in the day.

In May, a 20-year-old woman was killed in a crash in the same area. More on that story here

    Tuesday, June 25 2019 7:49 AM EDT2019-06-25 11:49:39 GMT

Sunny, hot and turning a bit more humid today across KAKEland with highs climbing back into the 90s. The hot and moist air across KAKEland will provide fuel for some late day storms that could turn severe in North Central and South Central Kansas. Storms that develop late in the day Tuesday could produce large hail, high wind gusts and even a couple of tornadoes.
