Winfield woman dies, man hurt after crashing into tractor

WINFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 67-year-old Winfield woman died and a man was hurt when their car crashed into a a tractor's grain drill. 

The accident happened just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday south of Winfield on 85th Road. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a southbound Lincoln MKS struck northbound tractor near 194th Drive. 

The driver of the Lincoln, Virginia Hostetter, died at the scene. Her passenger, 72-year-old Marvin Hostetter suffered potentially critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. 

The 72-year-old tractor operator was not hurt. 

The patrol's online crash log states the Hostetters were not wearing seat belts.
