Kansas will fire David Beaty, but he will coach remaining three games

The University of Kansas announced on Sunday that football coach David Beaty will be fired after the 2018 season.

Beaty will coach the remaining three games for the Jayhawks.

"After a thorough evaluation of the program, I believe that new leadership is necessary for our football team to move forward and compete at the highest level of the Big 12 Conference," said KU athletic director Jeff Long.  "I know that Coach Beaty cares deeply about his players, and I respect that. The student-athletes on this team have continued to play hard - and I am confident they will do that for the rest of the season."

Beaty has been the Jayhawk football coach since 2015 and has a record of 6-39, which includes 2-31 in the Big 12.

Long said the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
