One arrest in connection to deadly southwest Kansas shooting

Police say a 27-year-old man has died following a shooting in Liberal early Friday morning. 

Officers responded at around 4:20 a.m. to the report of a gunshot victim at Southwest Medical Center. Capt. Robert Rogers said in a release that Esteban Arzate had been shot several times and was dropped off by two males. 

Arzate died of his injuries. 

Liberal police later conducted a search warrant in the 700 block of North Pennsylvania in connection to the homicide, and evidence of a crime was discovered, Capt. Rogers said. 

Friday evening, police arrested a 36-year-old male in connection to the case. He was booked for Second Degree Murder. An affidavit will be forwarded to the Seward County Attorney's Office seeking formal charges.

Several people are being sought as potential witnesses to the shooting. No charges have been filed.
