Shooting victim being uncooperative, Wichita police say

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police are investigating a shooting that happened early Friday morning but say the victim is not cooperating. 

Officers were called just before 7 a.m. Friday to reports of a shooting in the 3000 block of West Newell, near Central and Zoo Boulevard. Sgt. Troy Nedbalek said the victim had suffered a couple of gunshot wounds and showed up at St. Joseph Hospital. He was then transferred to St. Francis due to his injuries. 

Sgt. Nedbalek said the shooting happened inside a home on Newell and that officers found a blood trail leading to the street. Investigators were waiting on a search warrant to enter the home. 

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
