Police have arrested a 36-year-old Wichita man after he allegedly pointed a gun at an officer who was investigating a hit-and-run.

Derek Flear was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer. Officer Charley Davidson said the non-injury hit-and-run had happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday on West Savanna Street. Police found the owner of the vehicle at a home on the 2300 block of South Crestline.

"At the home, the officer was confronted by Flear, who was armed with a handgun and pointed it at the officer," Officer Davidson said.

The officer retreated and gave Flear verbal commands to drop the gun. Flear complied and was taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.
