First winter storm of the season hits Kansas this weekend
A substantial push of cold air will once again bring big changes to KAKEland this weekend including a first freeze for the I-135 corridor and a chance of accumulating snow for parts of the state.
Moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Sergio will move into Oklahoma. At the same time, cold air will funnel into KAKEland overnight Saturday into Sunday. Rain will slowly transition to snow from Northwest to Southeast starting Saturday evening into Sunday evening.
Flurries look to end early Monday morning.
Right now, accumulations from one to five inches of snow look likely for western and north-central Kansas. Wichita could see up to a half-inch of snow.
There is still room for the forecast to change. Please stay tuned to your forecast on KAKE as the storm approaches.
