The 24-year-old son of a Kansas sheriff was killed when he struck a semi while driving the wrong way on a Wichita highway.
The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Wednesday night at I-135 and Hydraulic. Witnesses told the Kansas Highway Patrol that a Chevy Cavalier was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it struck a semi truck head-on.
The Cavalier then went into the median and rolled. The driver, Luke A. Hoskins, of Wichita, died at the scene. The patrol said he was not wearing a seat belt.
The 45-year-old semi driver was not hurt.
Hoskins was the son of Wabaunsee County Sheriff Robert Hoskins. Wabaunsee County is in northeast Kansas.
