WINFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) -

Two people have been killed and another was hurt in a head-on crash east of Winfield.

Deputies and emergency crews were called at around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday to the crash on Highway 160 near 141st Road. The Cowley County Sheriff's Office said a Chevy pickup driven by 22-year-old Timothy Call was heading westbound and crossed the center line, striking a Ford truck head-on.

The driver of the Ford, 64-year-old Geraldine Patrick, was flown to Wesley Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Her passenger, 58-year-old Patricia Blake, died at the scene.

Call, of Cedar Vale, was hospitalized in Newton. His condition was not released.

Sheriff David Falletti told NewsCow that blood was drawn from Call under the discretion of probable cause. Authorities had received a call just before the accident of a male in a truck driving erratically near Burden.

The sheriff's office said Patrick was from Shell Knob, Missouri, and Patrick was from Dallas, Georgia.
