WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities have confirmed the identities of a husband and wife who were killed in a murder-suicide in Derby.

Sedgwick County deputies and Derby police were called to the shooting at around 5:20 p.m. Saturday in the 9000 block of East 63rd Street South, east of Rock Road. They arrived to find Kristin Gile and Randy Gile, both 33, dead of gunshot wounds, the sheriff's office said.

A witness said a silver car and black SUV had been speeding on 63rd Street and as both vehicles were heading east from Rock Road, shots were being fired and the car sideswiped the SUV.

The witness said a man got out of the silver car, shot the woman in the SUV and then shot himself.

A GoFundMe page set up for the family points to a tumultuous relationship. The fundraiser says Kristin was trying to get out of an abusive marriage and was under a protection from abuse order from Randy, who she thought was in jail. They had six children.

Sedgwick County Jail records show Randy Gile was booked last month for seven counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal threat.

The sheriff's office says Kristin's father suffered minor injuries during the shooting.

Authorities are investigating a possible murder-suicide after a man and woman were killed in a shooting in Derby.

Capt. Brad Hoch with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said investigators believe the two victims in their 30s knew each other. Deputies and Derby police were called to the shooting at around 5:20 p.m. Saturday in the 9000 block of East 63rd Street South, east of Rock Road.

"They were in two separate vehicles and we believe there was a shooting out on the roadway," Capt. Hoch said. "We believe this might have started near or around Derby someplace and ended up at this location."

A witness said both vehicles were speeding and driving recklessly on 63rd Street in Derby. A silver car had its back window shot out. Then, as both vehicles were heading east from Rock Road, shots were being fired and the car sideswiped a black SUV.

The witness said a man got out of the silver car, shot the woman in the SUV and then shot himself.

The man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not released.

Details of what led to the shooting are under investigation. Hoch said there are no outstanding suspects.
