Heartwarming homecoming ceremony at Kansas high school

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Friday night was Eisenhower High School's homecoming game.

But it was about more than just football for students there.

Donning football jerseys and sparkly dresses, Homecoming Court lined up and waited for this moment:

"The Homecoming King is Parker May!"

Parker May was born with Down Syndrome and has dealt with his share of challenges.

But he's overcome all of them, with possibly his greatest accomplishment this night.

"The king is good, because it feels good," said May.

May, the football team manager, is officially the most popular kid at school.

"He is the most motivational person I know," said one fellow student.

"He's positive and funny and sweet," added another student.

And it's easy to see why.

"Parker sometimes needs no explanation. He's just a ball of energy with his team, with his classmates, his friends," said Parker's mom, Lindy May.

You can be sure this night is one Parker May, his family and friends will never forget.
