Red Cross looking for pre-hurricane blood donations
The American Red Cross is urging everyone to donate blood now, before Hurricane Florence strikes.
The Red Cross collects nearly 13,000 blood donations a day, but it says the storm threat to the East Coast could prevent them from meeting that amount. Wichita Red Cross spokesperson Michelle Jantz says she expects more than one thousand donations to be cancelled as Hurricane Florence moves toward the Carolinas and Virginia.
To make an appointment to give blood, call 1-800-RECROSS, go to redcrossblood.org or download the Red Cross blood donor app.
