Walnut Valley Festival brings creativity in all forms

WINFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Walnut Valley Festival is known for it's musical performances but the talent isn't just on the stage. Venturing into the campgrounds you'll find creativity in all forms, from groups of people picking and singing, to campsite decorations and even rock art.

If you happen to find painted rocks scattered throughout the festival grounds, those are works of art coming from Nancy Parrot's tent. She encourages people to come by her tent to paint a rock. Then she wants people to take that rock and hide it for a festival goers to find. She started a Facebook group called Rockin Walnut Valley so that people can post pictures of the rocks they find.

The festival, at the Cowley County Fairgrounds in Winfield, begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.  There will be performers on four stage, and even more music in the campgrounds.
