Kansas man killed in motorcycle crash

HIAWATHA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 40-year-old Kansas man died when he crashed his motorcycle Tuesday morning.

The accident happened about five miles north of Hiawatha on 290th Street. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Shawn Simpson was heading west just before 8:30 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve. 

Simpson's motorcycle went into a ditch and rolled. He was taken to KU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The patrol's online crash log states the Hiawatha resident was not wearing a helmet.
