A Wichita man has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for embezzling from a pawnshop where he worked.

Philip Jelinek pleaded guilty to felony theft.  Prosecutors said Jelinek embezzled $587,000 from A-OK Enterprises LLC, where he worked as an accountant.  The thefts involved money from internet sales.

A-OK owner Bruce Harris said the thefts forced his company into bankruptcy, led to layoffs and caused him to close some locations.

Jelinek, 35, asked a judge to consider probation because he was seeking treatment for a gambling addiction and had sold his house to pay restitution.  Judge David Kaufman denied the request.
