Pregnant woman in Topeka shot, loses baby

Topeka Police say the expecting mother who was shot this weekend has lost her baby as a result of her injuries.

28-year-old Keisheona Wilkins, the woman who sustained critical injuries in a shooting Saturday night, is stable but her unborn baby has died. TPD is now investigating the incident in southwest Topeka as a murder.

Wilkins was shot multiple times shortly after 10:30 pm Saturday after police received reports of gunshots in the 3600 block of SW Skyline Parkway. Wilkins remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

No suspects are in custody, but detectives have said they are working on strong leads and the public is not in immediate danger.
