Troubled former Dallas Cowboys running back and Wichita native Joseph Randle has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Sedgwick County Jail records show the 26-year-old was booked just before 3:45 a.m. Friday for one count of rape and a probation violation. He was held on $500,000 bond.

Officer Charley Davidson said officers were called at around 1 a.m. to a rape in progress at an apartment complex near K-96 and Rock Road. The 28-year-old victim had minor injuries and she told police that Randle had sexually assaulted her. The investigation is ongoing.

Randle's attorney in previous cases didn't immediately reply to phone messages seeking details about his latest arrest.

In June, he was sentenced to probation for aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, criminal threat, aggravated burglary and marijuana possession after striking three people with his car as he left a Wichita house party in 2016.

He spent most of the past two years in jail, with occasional stints in a state mental hospital, on an array of charges.
