WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have arrested a father and mother in connection to the death of their 2-month-old son at a hotel on the city's west side.

Kyle Kempton, 34, was booked for involuntary manslaughter and aggravated child endangerment, and Christy Rollings, 39, was booked for two counts of aggravated child endangerment.

First responders were called at around 6 a.m. Thursday to the report of a child not breathing at the Scotsman Inn at 5922 West Kellogg. Officer Davidson said the boy was unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The investigation revealed the parents had become intoxicated overnight," Davidson said in a news release. "This morning the father woke up next to the boy, found him not breathing and called 911."

The boy's twin brother was at the hotel and was unharmed.

On Tuesday afternoon, officers were called to the hotel to check the welfare of the twins. Davidson said the parents were intoxicated at the time and the children were placed with a family member, who returned the children to their parents Wednesday afternoon.

The family had been living in Scotsman Inn for a week.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death. The case will be presented to the district attorney's office on Friday.
