Wichita police officers will conduct a DUI checkpoint Saturday evening into Sunday morning.

The location of the checkpoint and the exact time frame it will run were not shared during Friday morning's public safety briefing.

"Citizens are always encouraged to drive responsibly, wear their seat belts, not text and drive, and there are other alternatives to drinking and driving," Officer Charley Davidson said," using a designated driver, an Uber or possibly a taxi service."

The checkpoint is funded by a grant through the Kansas Department of Transportation.
