WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

For more than 100 years Wichita has been the air capital of the world.
Teresa Day is the executive director at the Kansas Aviation Museum in Wichita. Inside some of the early machines from the steersman days, war birds and the equipment used to keep it all flying. But its not just whats on display inside, look around and the building itself is equally as important.

"Our community was built on aviation in one way or another, and the Kansas aviation museum celebrates that history and that heritage," said Day.

Charles Lindburg, Howard Hues, Amelia Earhart are just a few of the people who walked through these art deco doors.
The museum also has programs and a learning center to teach young people about aviation past and where it's headed next.
