2 dead after east Kansas chasePosted: Updated:
Two people are dead following an east Kansas crash Saturday night in Osage County.
Around 8 p.m. Saturday, a Lyon County Sheriff’s deputy was in pursuit of a vehicle along I-35 at the 142-mile marker. During the pursuit, the sheriff’s office learned the vehicle was recently reported stolen during a robbery in Emporia.
According to the Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol, the driver attempted to take the Melvern Exit on I-35, heading north. The driver lost control due to going too fast, left the roadway and rolled several times.
Despite life-saving efforts, the driver and a passenger died at the scene. The crash victims are identified as Sharnicca Cannon, 23, of Tuscon, and Anthony Krawzyck, 20, of Mesa, Ariz.
The Coffey County Sheriff’s Office and the Osage County Sheriff’s office assisted in the case. The crash is under investigation by the KHP.
