2 hurt in possible gang shooting
Police are searching for a suspect after two people are hurt in a shooting in east Wichita early Sunday morning.
The shooting reported around 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 6300th block of E. Harry – near Harry and Woodlawn. Officers rushed to the scene for reports of shots being fired in the area. Around then, two shooting victims were taken to the hospital on their own. Wichita Police Sgt. Clayton Schuler said one victim has minor injuries. A second victim’s condition is not known.
Schuler said officers spoke to some witnesses at the scene.
“There's a possibility of it being gang-related, but unknown at this point what the reason is,” he said. “Do not have a suspect in mind at this time.”
Schuler said they do not believe there is a public safety concern for this neighborhood.
