Man killed, another hurt in Hutchinson shooting

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) -

Hutchinson police have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection to a deadly double shooting Tuesday evening.

Jail records show Curtis Garcia was booked for first-degree murder in commission, attempt or flight from an inherently dangerous felony. The Hutchinson News reports the shooting happened at around 6:45 p.m. on Washington Street between 5th and 6th avenues.

Officers found a man dead near a shotgun on the east side of the road. Capt. Troy Hoover said another man with a gunshot wound was being driven to the hospital by his girlfriend when they stopped police in the 100 block of east 11th Avenue.

The person who died was identified as 18-year-old Norman Cushinberry. Tristan Delaney, also 18 years old, was hospitalized in Wichita.
