Shocker legends give back at basketball camp

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Jeff Hill Future All-American Basketball Camp is back in Wichita for the third straight year. Shocker legends Aubrey Sherrod, Cheese Johnson and Xavier McDaniel are again working the camp as coaches.

Nearly 250 kids were there on Monday, all of them for free thanks to the camp's sponsors. They get to learn the game from some of the best to ever play it, they also get to learn about life off the court from area figures like Wichita Fire Chief Tammy Snow, and at the end of camp on Thursday they will all get a back pack full of school supplies.

The coaches love doing this every year and say they will be back next year for a fourth time.

"The most important thing is that we love reaching out to the kids, see the look on their face, me in particular being a hometown guy having a parent come up to me and say thank you that this would never be able to happen if it wasn't for you so personally, for myself and the other guys, we really feel good about that," Sherrod said.
