4 hurt in gang-related shooting in northeast Wichita
Wichita police are investigating after four people were hurt in a gang-related shooting Saturday afternoon.
Officers were called at around 2:30 p.m. to a shooting near Harding and 14th in northeast Wichita. Police said in a news release that a disturbance has occurred between two gangs and shots were fired.
Four people were hurt in the shooting. Police said a 66-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman were innocent bystanders, and two 18-year-old men were involved in the incident. Officer Charley Davidson said Monday morning that not all are gang members and they have been released from the hospital.
Bullets also struck multiple homes in the area. It wasn't immediately known how many shots were fired.
"WPD will be increasing patrols in the area, allocating resources, and working with stakeholders to identify those responsible and involved to ensure they are held accountable," Police Chief Gordon Ramsay said.
Police say minimal cooperation has slowed the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.
