Woman killed, 2 kids hurt in crash on Kansas Turnpike

SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Authorities say a 31-year-old woman was killed and two children were hurt a crash on the Kansas Turnpike.

The crash happened at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in southern Sumner County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports Darcie Nettifee had swerved to avoid slowing traffic at mile marker 6.6 and lost control. 

Nettifee, of Clear Lake, Iowa, was taken to a local hospital where she later died. Two girls, ages 4 and 10, were listed as injured, but the patrol's online crash log doesn't say whether they were hospitalized. 

Additional details surrounding the crash were not released.
