Man accused of abusing girlfriend's young daughter, Wichita police say

Posted: Updated:

Wichita police arrested a man for allegedly abusing his girlfriend's 4-year-old daughter two weeks ago.

Dylan Yohe, 21, was arrested at Cessna Park, near Pawnee and Woodlawn, on Wednesday and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for child abuse. The incident happened between 11 p.m. on Monday, May 21 and 1 a.m. the following morning.

Police say Yohe's 20-year-old girlfriend took the girl, who had facial injuries, to a local hospital. A police report showed the alleged abuse was reported on May 23.

"As part of the investigation, a two-month-old and a four-year-old child was removed from the home. The investigation is still ongoing and it will be presented soon to the District Attorney's Office," said Officer Charley Davidson.

Yohe was held on bond at $50,000 bond for the abuse count and $52,500 for failure to appear.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Yohe is currently on Community Corrections for carrying a concealed firearm while under the age of 21 and several traffic violations. He was sentenced in Butler County on April 17.

The Wichita Police Department has been investigating 126 cases of child abuse, from January 1 to June 6. At the same period last year, there were 103 cases of child abuse. In total, there were 227 cases of child abuse in 2017.
