Dangerous heat settles into KAKEland

Temperatures in the 90s to near 100 degrees on Friday will combine with the humidity for some oppressive heat leading into the weekend. 

A Heat Advisory is in effect though Friday evening for heat index values between 105 and 110 degrees. Those outdoors today should prepare for the excessive heat. 

Temperatures will cool slightly through the weekend, with readings in the greater Wichita area dropping into the mid to upper 80s by Sunday.

  • Always apply plenty of sunscreen and often.  
  • Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.  
  • Stay away from sugar-based and alcoholic beverages.  
  • Never keep your children or your pets inside your car.
  • Also, keep an eye on those who live next door.
