Wichita Police are investigating a case where a man died after getting punched in the head.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance around 8 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 1900th block of south Santa Fe – southeast of Harry and Broadway.

Police say a 45-year-old man was arguing with his girlfriend’s 23-year-old son when he was punched in the head.  That's when the man lost consciousness and was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Investigators believe the victim's preexisting medical condition may have contributed to his death. Police also said the 23-year-old did punch the man in self-defense. An autopsy will be performed to determine an official cause of death.
So far, no arrests have been made.

This is the 20th homicide investigation in Wichita this year. The death is being listed as a "justifiable homicide."
