WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Mead's Corner will be closing its doors after ten years in business.

On Thursday, First United Methodist church -who has operated Mead's Corner for the last ten years, released in a statement that the "very difficult decision" comes due to a high increase in their lease.

"After considerable discussion of the landlord's proposal, the church council concluded that the cost of renewing the lease would be too high and that the lease should not be renewed" they said in their statement.

First UMC says a transition team will take charge in operating the coffee shop during its remaining weeks in business. The last day the coffee shop will be open is July 28th. Mead's Corner will hold a celebration event for their ten years in business on July 29th.
