NEWTON, Kan. (KAKE) -

Newton police say they took a 24-year-old man to the hospital after after he was found attempting to have sex with a car.

Officers were called at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to the report of a naked man under a car in the 1200 block of East Broadway.

"He was attempting to stick his penis into the tailpipe of the vehicle,” Lt. Scott Powell told The Kansan.

Powell said the suspect didn't respond to commands and officers used a Taser to subdue him.

“He was high on some sort of drug,” Powell said. “Officers were there and he continued to try and have sex with the tailpipe of the car. He would not listen to commands or anything. They ended up tasing him... He was so impaired we could not take him to jail."

He was taken to the emergency room as the result of “his odd behavior,” due to a .35 blood alcohol level and possible drug use.

Police submitted a report to city prosecutors recommending a misdemeanor charge of lewd and lascivious behavior. Nothing had been filed as of Thursday.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
